   When in Rome you must see the Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica with Michelangelo’s The Last Judgment fresco. You must however locate a “Skip the Lines” tour in order to save valuable time. You will experience, religion fervor, art, history and architectures all in one place in a short but fulfilling 3 hour tour.

   The Vatican made things a bit easier for everyone this year by extending opening hours until 6pm. If you go on your own then after lunch is the best way to avoid the crowds, and Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays are generally less crowded than the other days. Don’t forget to check to see if the museums will be open on the day you’re in Rome (they close Sundays and religious holidays).
