Meetings Dominican Republic

Plenty of Places for Great Gatherings

As the Caribbean continues to grow in popularity for the meetings, conventions and incentives market, the Dominican Republic continues to stand out as a prime choice. Meeting facilities can be found in every corner of this beautiful island destination, allowing meeting planners to select the exact location and space that matches the corporate travelers' needs and interests. From large auditoriums and convention halls housing several thousand attendees to smaller venues and the most intimate executive settings, this is the perfect location for a corporate meeting. In addition, the island has many years catering to this market and they know exactly what needs to get done for the perfect event. With everything from the latest in modern telecommunications and experienced event planners to reliable national infrastructure – plus all of the many delights of the island – no event could fail here.

X Marks the Spot

Today's business travelers often have very tight schedules and the Dominican Republic's location and infrastructure complement this need for speed in business. To begin with, visitors arrive on the island in just over three hours from New York, while the flying time from Miami is less than a two-hour trip. And with seven international airports, travelers are sure to be able to fly into the country and get to their meeting with little cross-island travel. Even if they do need to travel from one part of the island to another, the Dominican Republic's network of first-class highways helps travelers get where they need to go in a flash.

Variety of Venues

East, west, north or south – wherever you look, you can find the perfect fit for your group's next meeting. The capital city of Santo Domingo is a modern metropolis offering all of the accompanying amenities. Venues across and just outside of the city range in size from small to expansive and some sites can hold up to 1,500 people at once. At the famed Casa de Campo Resort just beyond La Romana, business travelers can enjoy small breakout rooms, a 530-person theater-style hall or the 5,000-person Altos de Chavón outdoor amphitheater (pictured at top right). To the east, the Barceló Bávaro Convention Center has hosted many large conventions and can seat 2,600 for a meeting. Of course, throughout the rest of the island, many hotels and resorts offer smaller venues with as much hospitality and charm as these larger options.

People Power

Since the Dominican Republic is accustomed to catering to the business traveler, they are ready for anything you need. Want a themed party for your clients? No problem. Do your business travelers like to hit the links after a morning meeting? With 21 golf courses across the island, this is easily accomplished. The Dominican people and the hotel staffs are ready and willing to help you plan the perfect event. From ground transportation and translators to caterers and event coordinators, the people of the island are a delight to work with and are full of great ideas. Your clients will never meet a more amicable group to work with.
