Mr Jones

Back in 1969 my folks bought an old farm house. 

It was built around the 1880's. My folks bought the house from an old widow lady named Mrs. Jones. The house was a two story house with one bedroom downstairs and two bedrooms up. Quite a few years before we bought the house, Mr. Jones passed away in the downstairs bedroom. 

This is the room my parents slept in. From the time we moved in, we started seeing and hearing different things at all hours of the day and night. The first "sighting" was about two in the afternoon. My mom, dad, and I were sitting in the living room watching television. I was sitting on the floor leaning against an ottoman we had and my mom was sitting in a chair behind me. The way we were sitting my mom and Icould see into the middle room and see the stairs to the upstairs rooms. 

The stairs were made in such a way that when coming down the steps you came down about fifteen steps and then you came to a four by four landing so that you had to turn to left and go down three more steps before you were on the main floor. From there, you could turn left through a doorway into the kitchen or right to the front room. At the time there was a curtain that was hung at the bottom of the steps at the landing. This was to keep the heat from going up to the second floor. 

While watching TV, mom and I saw this tall dark figure wearing a hat and what seemed like an overcoat pull back the curtain and walk down the three steps of the landing and turn and go into the kitchen. We both looked at each other and asked if each other had just seen that. 

My dad ask what we were talking about, for he was sitting in apart of the living room where he could not see the steps. Mom and I both walked into the middle room and on into the kitchen. When we walked past the stairs, the curtain was still moving. We did not find the figure we both saw.

This is the first of many sightings of what we decided was the ghost of Mr. Jones.
