Several Paranormal Experiences

I have had several experiences with the paranormal in my parent's house, which I lived in until I went away to college. My parents and my brother's family still live there.

It started the very first time I walked through the front door. It was a new house when my parents bought it, but it was built on old land where a farmhouse used to stand. There were also rumors about the land behind our house; property that reaches down into a little valley by a river. It was said that witches used to practice witchcraft by the river and some of the homes built down there have had strange occurrences. 

Our house is on the top of a hill, looking down on the development of other homes behind it. The development is nestled off along country road in the midst of cornfields and pumpkin patches. Basically, it's pretty quiet and very dark at night.

So my parents bought this house and the first time I walked in the door at age 16 it felt eerie. I was alone, moving some of my stuff into my room. I had an instant feeling of not being truly alone. Then after we had moved in, I and other family members had heard footsteps up the stairs and down the hallway. At first I thought it was my brother getting up in the middle of the night, but when I asked around no one had been up. 

I began going to check right away when I heard the stairs creek, and no one would be there. I also heard the sound of a shovel behind dragged on our front walk. I used to hear that all the time, and at first thought it was coming from the farm that was nearby our house. But I realized it was coming from right out front, and my bedroom window overlooked the front walk. When I went to look, of course, I saw nothing. 

One incident that really scared me was when my nephew's radio (my brother and his family lived with us) was playing strange music in the middle of the night. They would often go to bed with a soft bedtime music playing, but I woke up to the sound of some very strange, evil sounding music coming from their room. 

When I went down the hall to investigate, I heard some of the lyrics and they were hard to understand but they said something about Satan and there were whispering voices in the background and a very slow, pulsating music accompanying the voices. It didn't sound like anything I had ever heard before, and I immediately shut it off. I thought maybe they had changed the station to some alternative-rock station, but I found it to be on their usual bedtime radio station. 

The most bizarre occurrence of all was one night that I was out late at a friend's house. There was a little gathering and we had a few drinks and then I fell asleep on the couch. 

My curfew was 1am and it was now 3am so in a panic I got off the couch and drove like mad to get home. When I got out of my car in the pitch black, the first thing I saw was a glowing figure standing in our yard at the bottom of our hill. It was very tall and I couldn't see any features, but it was definitely in the shape of a person. It looked almost to be made of gases because it was bright like fire, but it had a thin beam encircling it's body in a spiral formation. 

The thin beam was green. It just stood there, about 30 feet away. I was frozen for a little while then ran as fast as I could to the front door. When I got in I went to the window to look out and it was gone. To make this event even more peculiar, my mother was already awake when I got into the house. She said she heard a loud thump outside about 20 minutes before I had come in. It woke her right out of a sound sleep. 

I don't know if these incidents are related, but I know one thing for sure, there is something about that house that is not of this world. Darlene
