Leave Me AloneIt all began on Halloween last year. I was at my friend Margaret's house to have a party...you know, telling ghost stories, playing ouija and stuff like that. Now, before I go on I must acknowledge the fact that I don't really believe in any of that paranormal joyride, so I wasn't in the least bit expecting to have anything weird or out of the ordinary happen to me. Anyways, towards the middle of the night, Margaret suggests that we whip out her ouija board and give it a go. "We'll try to contact someone I heard of around here," said Margaret, "I heard of a woman who was murdered in these woods a few years ago by her boyfriend." (There were these creepy woods behind her house, in case you're wondering). So we all sat in a circle in the dark, surrounding the board. Margaret was the first to the introduction. "We call upon the spirit of Lillian James Barry," she said in a low voice, "we call upon the spirit of Lillian James Barry." There was an eerie silence for a few moments before our only candle started flickering. Margaret was getting excited as the rest of us started getting freaked out. "Are you here, Lillian Barry?" she asked quietly. The thing moved to the word 'yes'. "Cut it out, Marge I know it's you," I said, only to have her shush me. "How were you killed, Lillian?" she asked the ghost. the ghost spelled out the words- "stabbed....in....the....head." I flinched. We asked the spirit a few more questions until it all started to annoy her. Since the room was dark, we couldn't see anything, which was all the more freaky when we all heard a faint wail down the hall, "Leave me alone....just leave me alone!" We all knew it had to be Lillian. But Marge had to continue. "Why?" she asked, "What's the matter?" Lillian had enough. We heard loud banging going all around the room, as if someone was running on the walls. The next thing that happened was even weirder. Coming from the back of the house came shouts. That of a man and a woman. The man was yelling, "You're mine, you hear? MINE!!!" The woman was yelling and crying something like, "No, Johnny, please no! Just leave me alone!!" Then came the running footsteps down the hall and past the living room where we all were! Then, just as suddenly as it all began, it stopped. Since then, we' ve never gone close Margaret's house, not even Margaret, who moved out a week later! She gave away her ouija board, and doesn't even read about ghost stories anymore. But before I end this account, I have to inform you that a day after the ouija game and Lillian, Marge went to her town's City Hall and went through some records. She found out that Lillian James Barry was 19 when she was murdered by her then boyfriend, John Forge in Margaret's house after John found out about Lillian falling in love with someone else. Margaret had problems sleeping for a week after her Halloween party, and so did I and everyone else who attended. This was a true story...thanks for reading about it. Liz |
