The result? A new level of 4.0 megapixel image quality for you. The DiMAGE S404 digital camera boasts a 4.0 megapixel CCD, which translates into a resolution of 2272 x 1704 pixels for your images. This high-resolution CCD gives you the level of detail needed for truly impressive print quality - up to approximately 15.2" x 11.4" using an inkjet printer at 150dpi. Minolta drew on its renowned optical expertise and the same GT Lens technology used for the top-of-the-line DiMAGE 7 to develop this camera's sophisticated lens for digital imaging. Its CxProcess image processing controls important image factors such as sharpness, gradation and noise reduction for clear, vivid, natural-looking image reproduction. Plus, each of the red, green and blue color signals is converted by 12-bit A/D processing and provides 4,096 color gradations. Compared to pictures from conventional 10-bit models, you'll see much greater detail with a total of over 68 billion gradations. The S404 incorporates a powerful 4x Optical Zoom Lens in its compact body. Add to this its 2.2x digital zoom, and you'll really be able to get close to your subjects. You can also get as close as you want - as close as 10cm - with Macro mode. This let's you capture the details of a coin or a watch face, for example. The DiMAGE S404 has an enormous 32MB buffer memory to maximize its high-speed LSI image processor. In addition to quick startup and fast autofocus, interval between shots is a mere 0.8-second, and playback interval of 0.2-second. Best of all, you can capture up to 7 consecutive images at a rapid 1.3 frames/second. The S404 packs all of these features into a design that is slim and ergonomic. The large 1.8" LCD screen makes viewing easy, while a USB port makes downloading simple.
