At first the duomo hotel was right a unbelievable dream. It was aplace mystical in mystery/ nullifying from one's move and space/suspended between know-how and fantasy. Thinking back to the dream to how we would havewanted the duomo hotel to become we were sure that wewanted something that embraced the past but looked to thefuture/ something different/ something international thatreflected our need for dynamism/ design/ creativity on onehand while on the other could also be a place to unwind/meet people/ and conduct business. Ron arad came up with anintriguing visual provocation that plays with spatialperception giving a new look to the original facade bycovering it with a new skin to create continuity between thecity and the interior. He designed an entrance that framesthe perspective on the reception making it the focal pointof the hotel. A piece that looks like it comes from adistant planet a huge glowing ring that is partly suspendedin mid air and partly resting on the top of a column ofwhich the interior is a warm passionate color. The roomshave soft round lines in which the possibility to see andcommunicate with the outside is directly proportionate tothe desire to hide or be seen playing with day and night ina movement of light and shadow that recalls the idea of aninfinite space. By day the duomo hotel is somewhere to relaxor the perfect place to hold a meeting where you cancommunicate using the business center which includes roomsfor meetings/ seminars/ and presentations.
