It has been many years since I first went to Cancun, Chitzhca Itza, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Akumal and the other areas and around the Mexican location known more typically as the Riviera Maya.
It is all grown up, but in a good way. Nature, ecology and history have been the focus and emphasis for the tourism and visitor boom it has experienced over the last 20 years!
Discover RIU Hotels like the Hotel Riu Palace Peninsula in Cancun, Riu Palace Riviera Maya, Riu Palace Mexico, Club Riu Tequila,
Riu Lupita, Riu Playacar and the Riu Yucatan for services and amenities.
These properties will satisfy all your expectations and put you close to all the best action and excursions to area cenotes and attractions.
The new route starts with a well followed highway 307 heading south from Cancun past Puerto Morelos, Punta Brava, Playa del Secreto, Tres Rios, Punta Maroma, Punta Bete Xcalacoco, Playa del Carmen, Playacar, Xcaret, Calica, Punta Venado, Paamul, Puerto Aventuras, Xpu Ha, Kantenah, Akumal, Xcacel, Xel-Ha, Bahia de Punta Soliman, Tankah (Tancah), Tulum, Playa Paraiso, Boca Paila, Punta Allen and Sian Kaan with notable side trips to Coba or Cozumel.
The four lane highway will turn into a two lane road at Calica and then turn off to highway 107 toward a more rugged road south of Tulum to the unspoiled Punta Allen.
